It can, however be healed at strategic assets. The Dreadnaught is painfully slow, and it cannot heal at beacons, requiring a second vehicle healing item to be wielded by one of the other squads or a talented ability in the stamina tree to heal himself. Because he's so fast, you have to keep an eye on him, but he's very useful. He's great for jumping in and smashing enemies in the face, and he can also retreat in a hurry, which proves equally useful. This makes him perfect as a front-line melee brawler, but he can be turned into an adequate gunner as well. His jetpack makes him the most agile unit you'll have. Avitus should not be used for melee fighting, but his strength talented abilites make him very self-sustianed. When equipped with Terminator Armor, he has an even more powerful minigun. With his ranged attack fully leveled, he can fire without the need for the slow warm-up, making him one of the most powerful characters to have. These guns are limited against agile targets because of their warm-up time, but they can be absolutely devastating. Avitus is able to use heavy bolters, large chain guns that take a moment to warm up. The remote detonation pack is incredibly powerful, but can also damage your own squads so be mindfull of positioning. Using him during boss missions is incredibly usefull due to his enhanced abilitles through talents to revive your squads, and well placed remote detonation packs can almost totally clear waves of adds during the fight. However, when played well, his weapon charge abilities, talented revive options, and remote detonation pack can make or break your misson success. Unfortunately he uses lighter armor than the others, which makes him limited, and basically useless for those that need brute force. Cyrus is able to cloak his squad and move in quietly, demolish buildings with explosive charges, and use sniper rifles, making him a very compelling character from a tactical perspective. Cyrus is unique, and most people neglect him, but in the right situations he can often be incredibly powerful, and he's one of the more interesting characters to use. He has four men in his squad, which makes him very powerful, and it also means you'll want to armor him well and build up his defenses. You'll want him to be your tank as he has a talent where he can't die as long as he has energy to maintain his ability. He can become very powerful and eventually use terminator armor and plasma cannons. Most people prefer to use him as a medium gunner, since that void needs filling, but the choice is yours. Tarkus is a very well-rounded character that can be built up to suit any purpose. The Force Commander works well no matter how he is talented. He is your second best tanking unit with points in stamina. The Force Commander is quick, powerful, but he's a solo unit.

He must accompany every mission, so the question is how to use him, not if you should use him.
